Began as Atra Sacramentum. The name was shortened to the band's current name, Atra, in 2010.

Part of Ordo Ater Anguis, or Order of the Black Serpent, along with Drowning the Light, Erebus Enthroned, Eternum, Ghosts of Oceania, Harvest, Ill Omen, LCF, Nazxul, Nox Inferi, Pestilential Shadows, Red Dragon, and others.
