The band was founded in 1997 under the name Timezone, and recorded a demo during the same year. They split up before the material could be released. After reuniting in the summer of 1999, the band decided to change its name to Human Fortress. A new demo was recorded (at Hannover's "Airport Studio") and released later that year.
