Dark Star was a melodic NWOBHM band best known for their one 'hit', "Lady of Mars".

They broke up in 1982 while writing a second album, the cause mainly due to their label's bankruptcy. After the split-up, all the members except singer Staines went on to form blues rock band, Poker Alice. Staines managed Marshall Law for a short time.
