Celtic Legacy grew out of a covers band called Stomp which formed in 1994 and eventually began recording original material. They recorded a demo under the temporary name Mischief which eventually developed into Celtic Legacy. Despite incorporating celtic influences into several of their songs, they have always rejected the label of being a folk metal band.
