Oliver Magnum was founded in October 1983 by rhythm section Dan Kurtz and Curt Daughterty. Soon afterward they hooked up with guitarist Monte Humphrey and started to play gigs as an instrumental trio. In 1984, vocalist Mark Mueller left his old band to complete the lineup.

Rumour says that they band won a Battle of the Bands in Tulsa, Oklahoma around 1985 or 1986, a success that enabled them ...
