Sarnath was created in the ruins of the castle of Neu-Falkenstein (Switzerland) during spring 1999. The band name comes from a story by H.P. Lovecraft. The lyrics are inspired by Nordic mythology and the books of H.P. Lovecraft, Friedrich Nietzsche, Edgar Allan Poe and J.R.R. Tolkien.
